Arrowsmith Gold Announces Inaugural Dave Jokinen Humanitarian Award Recipient
Arrowsmith Gold Inc. (AGI) is proud to announce Kulé (AJ) Kambere, a medical student at the American University of Anguilla, as the first recipient of the Dave Jokinen Humanitarian Award for 2024/2025. The award includes financial support for Kulé's medical studies.
The Award's Origins:
The award honours Dave Jokinen, father of AGI's Owner/Managing Director Janis Shandro and Deputy Director Laura Jokinen. Dave's compassionate approach to helping others, particularly those often overlooked by society, inspired the creation of both the company and this humanitarian award. His influence began early, exposing his daughters to various health scenarios and facilitating their first employment at a psychiatric hospital in Northwestern Ontario.
About the Recipient:
A Multi-Talented Leader in Medicine
As President of the American University of Anguilla Student Governing Association, Kulé bridges communication between students and administration while serving as Vice President of both the General Surgery and Emergency Medicine Clinical Focus Interest Groups. He is currently leading a research project in rural Western Uganda (scheduled for fall 2025) to examine healthcare delivery in underserved regions.
A Global Force in Dance and Cultural Preservation
Known professionally as "MegaMan," Kulé is an accomplished dancer and choreographer who won OBS Taiwan 2019 and has consulted for America's Got Talent and NBC's World of Dance. In 2020, he established Western Canada's first hip-hop Black Culture class within universities and dance studios, promoting Black excellence while addressing systemic racism in Canada's street dance community..
A Heart for Service and Community
Kulé's commitment to service extends through his mentorship of successful dance groups like Funkanometry, Gigabots, and GRVMNT, while also organizing international health fairs and community outreach programs.
